Samsung has been quite silent when it comes to the tablet scene lately. The only tablets released by Samsung in 2014 was its powerful Samsung Tab S series coming in 8-inch and 10-inch sizes. However, Samsung has yet to update its Tab and Note series with new entries since the Tab 4 and NotePRO respectively.
New reports from SamMobile indicate that the tech giant is currently developing a number of tablets with 2 device numbers: SM-TXXX and SM-PXXX. Considering that previous models of the Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Note tablets had SM-TXXX and SM-PXXX device numbers respectively, this is pretty much a good indication that we may be seeing multiple new entries into the two device lines soon.
The Galaxy Tab series is looking to get two entries with the Tab AS (SM-T350/351) and Tab AL (SM-T550/551). The devices look to be the successors to the current Tab 4 7.0 and Tab 4 10.1 respectively.
The Galaxy Note’s tablet line is looking to be getting two new entries as well with the SM-P350/351 and SM-P550/551. Both devices come with both WiFi and cellular connectivity and look to be midrange entries to the Note tablet series. It is speculated that the SM-P350/351 is a 7- or 8-inch tablet while the SM-P500/551 will be sporting a larger 10- or 12-inch display.
Seeing as the devices have just entered development, it is more than likely that the devices will launch sometime in Q2 (April – June) or Q4 (October – December) this year. The devices look like they will be launching with Android 5.0 Lollipop. If the Tab S is any indication of Samsung’s new philosophy when it comes to tablet devices, it looks like we may be in for a very welcome treat.
What do you think? Would you get a Galaxy Note or Tab with great specifications?
