Adobe has been a go to for many creatives when it comes to processing media. The company’s many offerings including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and even Acrobat have become benchmarks for other companies looking to bring offerings to the creative space. With the introduction of their Creative Cloud platform, Adobe took their full software suite into the cloud and made their software more accessible with a subscription model.
One of the many industries where Adobe’s suite has become a standard is in the cinema and video making industry; where their powerful Premiere Pro software has set the benchmark – even we use it here at techENT for our videos. The software provides an extensive array of features which makes video editing and mastering a breeze. Everything from colour grading to text overlays comes baked into Premiere Pro.
That said, Premiere Pro as a software can be taxing on PCs due to its high resource demands when processing 4K and even 8K videos. This is why the software has been built to work natively with many graphics cards on the market including AMD’s Radeon series. That said, the AMD Radeon Pro SSG has yet to receive native support. That changes with the new update to Adobe Premiere Pro CC. With the new update, Premiere Pro will be able to take full advantage of the 2TB of storage which has been built in to the Radeon Pro SSG for demanding workflows. The ability to utilise this dedicated space will alleviate much of the processing burden from the processing units for a better, smoother overall experience when using Premiere Pro.
The power combination of the AMD Radeon Pro SSG and Adobe Premiere Pro will allow users to process 4K and 8K video in their native formats including ARRI AMIRA, Canon XF and RAW, Panasonic AVC and P2, REDCODE RAW, and Sony XDCAM, XAVC, and RAW.
AMD Radeon Pro SSG
The AMD Radeon Pro SSG turns the current paradigm of graphics processing. The new approach incorporates high speed, high capacity NVMe devices in the graphics card. It is the first graphics card to offer 2TB of storage specifically for demanding workflows such as high-resolution video, VR, and 360 video stitching. The Radeon Pro SSG harnesses the “Vega” GPU architecture, delivering up to 12.3 TFLOPS of peak single precision compute performance for the most demanding workloads.
The card also features 16GB of High-Bandwidth Cache based on the newest, ultra-fast HBM2 Error Correcting Code (ECC) Memory1, and harnesses the revolutionary High Bandwidth Cache Controller (HBCC), the world’s most advanced GPU memory architecture.
