Although MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2015 has already started, many players has unveiled their latest products even before MWC started. Before the MWC started, ZTE has announced their latest handset to join them this year: The Grand S3.
Well, some of you may argue that the device is not new as it has been on sale in China during middle of January. Here’s why it’s considered as a new flagship: because previously it was only sold in China and China only. ZTE only announced recently that the phone will make its debut outside China. We can’t be exactly sure when it will make its debut or where exactly, but the Europe phone market could very well be one of them. North American release is not as likely as Europe’s, but it is still possible.
Onto the specs of the phone: Grand S3 is packed with Snapdragon 801 CPU with 3GB RAM, along with 5.5-inch 1080p display. It has 16GB of internal storage and is expandable through microSD. It has an 8MP front camera, with 16MP rear camera and has dual-LED flash. The phone will run on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. No words if it will be upgradeable to Lollipop or not.
A unique selling point for the device to make it stand out from the sea of competitors is the new biometric security that scans your eye through an “Eyeprint ID” technology. It’s not as fast as the fingerprint readers, but apparently it’s more secure.
In China, the Grand S3 is sold for approximately US$478 (MYR1744). There really isn’t a way to say whether it will be sold more expensive or cheaper upon its release globally. But fret not as we will cover this and will bring you the latest updates regarding this matter, so stay tuned!
