These days, when we all see the words “flip phones” and “slider phones”, we will definitely feel some sort of nostalgia for it used to be the kind of smartphone that we all used to use. Remember when it was cool flipping the phones after a phone call? Or sliding the phones out of boredom? While everyone else is driving away from these and on a look out for more futuristic themes, Firefox OS became the one and only to not do so.
At the MWC2015 Firefox OS press event, those words that bring us back nostalgic moments were mentioned, meaning they will announce flip phones and slider phones soon. And boy, are we excited! Mozilla’s visions for Firefox OS that was announced 4 years ago was to bring the capabilities of the smartphones to emerging markets. Of course, they have taken steps to realize this vision.
The event at MWC the other day’s focus was on 2016. And that will be when the company will leverage on new partnerships with KDDI, LG U+, Telefonica, and Verizon Wireless. These new partnerships will allow the Mozilla to bring new flip phones and slider phones that will run on Firefox OS.
During the event, however, the phones weren’t at sight. Maybe because it wasn’t made as of yet. But Mozilla’s move has been a humble reminder to the world, reminding us that we have many things that has yet to be achieved.
