The Mobile World Congress 2018 saw plenty of impressive devices come out or coming out to the consumers. From the looks of it the year 2018 is going to be an interesting one for plenty of manufacturers and brands. One of those brands is ASUS.
Earlier we wrote and spoke about the brand new Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5z flagships, their champions. But those are not the only devices that they are bringing to the table. They introduced, in the same keynote another device to their smartphone line up – the ASUS Zenfone 5 Lite.
Zenfone 5 Lite
For starters it looks completely different compared to the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5z. It has a completely different build and look, which also explains the supposedly lower price tag compared to the main flagships. Do not get us wrong though this is still very much a part of their flagship family.
The Zenfone 5 Lite, in our humble opinions can be likened to the ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro that we saw launched last year in Taiwan. In fact we think that this device is the spiritual successor to that particular selfie focused device. No, we are convinced that it is the actual successor to that device (we did like the device by the way, check out the review here).
So, the Zenfone 5 Lite. What is new?
For starters you will find either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 or 430 inside, depending on what you choose. Those processors will be then paired to an Adreno 508 or Adreno 505 GPU respectively. RAM comes in two options as well – 3GB or 4GB. Storage starts at 32GB and ends at 64GB, it is expandable up to 400GB via MicroSD though if it is not enough.
Other than the Processor the 3,300mAh battery powers a 6.0-inch display with Full HD+ resolution at a 18:9 display ratio. That display is protected by a 2.5D glass to ensure that the device actually lasts. The Lithium-ion battery also powers four cameras; two facing the front and two facing the back of the devices.
The main rear shooters are housed in the traditional aluminium body that we are familiar with on the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro. These are two 16-Megapixel sensors strapped together to create stunning to look at photos. Out the front are two 20-Megapixel Sony IMX376 cameras to create beautiful selfies. The 120-degree wide angle lens also makes a comeback in this device. This time though there are two wide angle cameras instead of just one; each one at each side of the device.
The Android 8.0 Oreo with ZenUI 5 ASUS Zenfone 5 Lite will be available in funky colours like Moonlight White, Rouge Red, and Midnight Black. There are no official word on local availability or price yet. The global launch is touted to be within this month onward though. Do keep a watch of this space for more updates.
