So, trademarking isn’t something new in the tech industry. Everybody wants to claim ownership on something or another whether it be iOS software, names or general appearance of gadgets. LG isn’t any different.
Although this act of trademarking doesn’t necessarily confirm that LG is going to launch a line of new smartphones, it can be assumed so since the company may be paving the way for a range of Prime smartphones each series.
LG have applied on June 3rd to trademark a range of names including G Prime, F Prime, L Prime and W Prime. However, we cannot be sure why the company would want to spend time manufacturing a Prime for the F and L series. The L series is more of an average mid end series and the same goes for the F series but we do know that both series do have a good market and just maybe the launching of a Prime would be the series into the next level.
The trademarking of the name G Prime indicates that it’s most likely doing so for a device in their G-series which is at present in the spotlight for the G3. G Prime might be the smartphone in works for this particular series of devices. However, we do need to bring your focus onto the W Prime. Notably, there is no such thing as the W-series in LG’s current lineup. The launching of a W Prime just maybe a flirtatious hint towards a Windows phone. If this is so, it would be a huge step for LG.
We’ll just have to wait and see what LG decides to do next after the trademark is approved. Anything is possible, we will just need to pick up on their small gestures to find out what the ‘anything’ is.
