Motorola Mobility was a company that was struggling to stay relevant in a mobile space which was rapidly evolving. In 2011, the company was acquired by Google; under whose purview the company gained some traction with its flagship Moto X and Moto maker. The company was quickly offloaded by the search behemoth in 2014 after successfully transferring the ownership of a majority of Motorola Mobility’s patents. Lenovo took the reigns of the rising company in 2014. However, after leaving the Malaysian market after its only successful device in the region, the Motorola RAZR, the only devices to enter the market officially were the first generation Moto X and Moto G, and the second generation Moto G. Beyond that, the once popular mobile manufacturer has been noticeably absent in the market.
Be that as it may, things seem to be looking up for Motorola under Lenovo’s umbrella. With recent announcements that Lenovo would be folding its own “Vibe” brand into Motorola Mobility’s portfolio, it comes as no surprise that the company is looking to expand the reach of the popular Moto brand. With manufacturing prowess, and the funds for innovation, Moto, is looking to make its triumphant return to the Malaysian market.
