The Moto X Gen 2 has been spotted on Malaysia’s local SIRIM database under the model number XT1092. It will be distributed under local retailer BrightStar!
The Moto X Gen 2 is coming with a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5 GHz with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB or 32 GB of internal memory. However, there’s no microSD support in the New Moto X. It also comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD 1080p AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
In addition, the Moto X Gen 2 will be coming with a 13-MegaPixel camera with a dual-LED ring flash with a Full HD 1080p 2.0-MegaPixel front facing camera. The Moto X Gen 2 will be launching with the latest Android Operating System, Android 4.4.4 KitKat with a guaranteed update to Android L.
The smartphone also comes with a whole load of sensors including accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer and temperature sensors. The device will also come with three IR sensors which will lend itself heavily into Motorola’s efforts in contextual computing including helping display your notifications using the renamed Moto Display feature as soon as you reach for the device. Also coming in tow, are four microphones which will play a crucial part in both the contextual computing element of the device as well as the ambient noise cancellation of the new Moto X.
The new Moto X will have a non-removable 2300 mAh Lithium Ion battery and comes with WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac connectivity in addition to Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.o and 3G and 4G LTE connectivity. All of these features will be contained in a 140.8 x 72.4 x 10 mm body weighing 144g.
While the specification bump is expected, the new design of the Moto X comes as a welcomed change as well. The new design maintains many of the features and cues from the original Moto X released last year. However, one of the most obvious design changes in the new Moto X is the front facing stereo speakers which are front and center. In addition, the device also sports a metallic trim/frame which now surrounds the colored body of the new Moto X. Also getting a little change is the dimple in the back of the device which houses the Motorola logo. The dimple has been enlarged and the logo made more prominent whilst maintaining the same feel for the original Moto X.
Pricing is still a mystery but original Moto X was priced at MYR 1,499 (USD$430) for the 16GB version so this could be an estimated figure for what’s to come!
