We have just recently talked about Samsung streamlining their portfolio of smartphones, but we just keep coming upon these leaks. Another Samsung device has been spotted through a benchmark, dubbed the E7.
The benchmark of the E7 shows the makings of a mid-range device, a category know for its variety in Samsung. It sports a 5.5-inch 720p display, making it phablet sized. It will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 SoC with Adreno 306 GPU. For memory, it has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The cameras are 12MP rear and 5MP front, both capable of 1080p recording. It will also run Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box, with a possible Android 5.0 Lollipop update even before release.
To be fair, the specs of the Samsung E7 are pretty decent for a mid-range device. The bigger question would be how would this device fit into the new streamlined portfolio of Samsung smartphones? There has been mention of a new mid-range series of Samsung with the E series, and the E7 could be the first of many. For now, we may be looking at the first of only a handful of mid-range devices for Samsung come 2015.
