Microsoft Enters Android Wear Market with New Keyboard App
Microsoft has yet to enter the budding smartwatch market but that doesn’t mean the company is not thinking about it. I don’t think we’re going to see a Microsoft smartwatch so soon but the company has put its sights on other efforts. The tech giant has shared news that it is working on an experimental keyboard for Android Wear.
Voice recognition is there to input some info on smartwatches but really, sometimes all we need is to input text manually and Microsoft has been stewing on how best to do text entry in an device that small. We’ve seen some efforts by other companies such as Minuum with its unusual linear keyboard. But Microsoft is thinking bigger – a handwriting recognition keyboard.
Microsoft’s keyboard will recognize text letter by letter as users trace out characters on the smartwatch’s display. Known as the Analog Keyboard sounds fantastic but it will take forever to write a message and it only has lower case letters for now. Currently, the keyboard only work on Gear Live and Moto 360 and sadly, does not recognize some words including profanity.
It does sound like something really fun to experiment with though so if you have smartwatch, give it a try and let us know how it goes in comment section below!
