What is Lumia Denim? It was first announced by Microsoft at the IFA 2014 in Berlin, Germany. Lumia Denim has the latest firmware for Lumia devices that brings a few new features like passive-listening Cortana, 4K video, Rich Capture and few other more features. Codenamed ‘Debian Red’, it follows the naming convention used by Microsoft for their firmware in Lumia devices. It goes by an alphabetical order starting with, A for Lumia Amber, B for Lumia Black, C for Lumia Cyan, and now D for Lumia Denim.
The Lumia Denim update has begun roll out since Microsoft has pushed the update to selected devices in India, China and few other markets in Europe. The first update for Lumia Denim was launched on the Nokia Lumia 830, back in September. Right after that, some users from India reported that they received the Lumia Denim updates on their Nokia Lumia 520 and 525. While the European users got their updates on the Nokia Lumia 530, 625, 635, 925, 1020, and 1320. And in China, the update rolled out on Nokia Lumia 520, 525, 526, 625, 720, 720T and 1320.
Aside from the Lumia Denim update, the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 also brings Cortana, Live Folders, Apps Corner, SMS merge and forwarding, Snooze Times, Consumers VPN, IE improvements, and also some certain added exclusive features into the Lumia devices. The Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 has been available since August, and Microsoft announced that the Cortana availability would expand from the US to India, China, Canada, Australia, and the UK.
The OS version number is 8.10.14219.341 and it is based on the latest Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1. But that’s not all, the update of Lumia Denim will arrive in Malaysia very soon. It is still uncertain what devices are receiving the update but it will surely hit the Nokia Lumia users in Malaysia.
