Quite recently the other Korean giant in the electronics industry have been seen teasing around with a new device. This new device is apparently a smartwatch set to replace the outgoing LG G Watch. The LG G Watch R is set to right the wrongs of the LG G Watch. It has a round face and it will work better apparently. We need to wonder no more though with their announcement of the smartwatch. Of course we expected that the smartwatch was supposed to be released during IFA 2014 but it seems that LG have jumped the gun.
Obviously this will be an Android Wear device so there should be no surprise there. But there is more than just minor upgrades on this device. Together with the round face you get on the device you also get stainless steel frames to go around it. The display on it is not the normal LCD, its P-OLED which is supposed to be view-able even under direct sunlight while offering greater viewing angles which is important in a watch. The 1.3 inches display has 320 x 320 pixel and also packing some serious hardware inside as well. For starters it has a 1.2 GHz clocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 coupled with 512MB of RAM. It may sound modest but remember this is not a smartphone; it is a smartwatch so with a processor like that it should be able to handle the usual Android Wear tasks without breaking a sweat. The 410mAh battery packed to juice this thing up as well is supposed to last longer than the current outgoing LG G Watch. It will have 4GB of storage to keep some important stuff in your smartwatch as well. The other specs for this device is not yet known but judging by the preliminary specs we are looking at, we expect this thing to shine during its launch. So bright in fact it might overshadow the Motorola Moto 360.
So have LG’s mission in creating a smartwatch that will not be sidelined been a success? It does certainly look like it would be when it is launched. But from here to then plenty of things still could be happening and there could be drastic changes from any competition. Until then, they would not be able to rest well.
