The LG G3 might be hitting our Malaysian waters in less than 24 hours. And it seems it’s not alone. The LG G3 Stylus will also be accompanying the flagship as it gets launch just for us.
Starting with the processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 clocked in faster than average computers at 2.5GHz will chew up any competition it has in the market and take on any task you can throw on the LG G3. This supported by either a 2GB or 3GB RAM should make it silky smooth or blisteringly snappy, depending on how you want to see it. The 2GB RAM model would come with a 16GB internal memory while the 3GB RAM model would make it to shores with 32GB packed in it. If the internal memory offerings are not enough, you can add MicroSD up to 128GB in the the earlier mentioned MicroSD slot. Moving on we would see a splendidly sharp display upfront. At 538ppi, the 5.5-inches 2K (2560 x 1440 pixels) display is breathtaking. Of course some might argue that the Retina Display by Apple quoted at over 300ppi is sharp ‘enough’. LG though claims that with above 500ppi texts and small images appear to be much clearer and consumers would prefer the higher counted ppi compared to a 400ppi naturally. Antenna wise it will come around with the usual array of wifi, 3G and 4G LTE receivers. Camera is quoted at 13MegaPixels equipped with OIS, LED flash, and, unusually a laser. The laser, LG claims is the autofocus enhancer of this device. It will autofocus more accurately and quicker at 276ms compared to its competition. That is a feature worth noting to us. Below the camera is the iconic volume up and down buttons and the power button that was featured in the G2, except that they are designed to be more spacious and ‘grippier’ to avoid accidental slips. The front camera is rebranded by LG; it is now called the “selfie camera”. At 2.1MP LG claims it to perform much better than other 5MP front shooters by competitors as the front facing camera features a larger sensor and larger aperture to allow for better selfies. There is also no need to click any button now to take a selfie, all you need to do is clench a fist in front of camera for the shutter to trigger. Pretty cool. They haven’t left out the speaker as well, they fitted it with a strong 1W speaker. Juicing up all these is a 3000mAh battery that can be replaced.
The device is mostly made up of high grade plastic or what manufacturers would be polycarbonate. They designed the back battery door to be “metallic”, as in plastic with a metal look. Like Samsung, LG says that using plastic makes the device feels warmer and comfortable in the hands. It also just means that it is plenty grippier than aluminium. The “metallic” back cover is coated by an anti-fingerprint, anti-scratch coating to keep the ‘new’ look of the device. The Floating Arc design as LG calls it is 8.9mm at thickest point in the middle and then tapering off to the sides of the device. This combined with the screen occupying over 76 percent of the front makes the device looks and feel smaller than other phones with the same screen size. Unbelievable but with the bezel so thin on this device we would not be surprised. LG announced at the event too that the device would come in five different colours; Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Moon Violet and Burgundy Red.
As for the G3 Stylus, this is a phone boasted by LG to be the solution to any users who want a big display and a stylus pen that helps bring out the creativity and productivity of its owner. It promises any user a premium experience!
The G3 Stylus has a rubberdium stylus which is aimed at comfort when using the phone. The G3 Stylus itself has the same Floating Arc design with gradually tapered edges, thin bezels and metallic skin back cover that was first introduced on the LG G3.
The device sports a 13 megapixel back shooter which carries over the G3’s key camera features such as Touch & Shoot, Gesture Shot and Front Camera Light. This is mated with a front 1.3 megapixel camera. The device runs on a 1.3GHz Quad-Core processor and has a 5.5 inch qHD IPS display. It sports 8 GB worth of memory expandable via microSD with 1 GB of RAM. It is 3G equipped and runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The 163g device comes in black, white and gold and is powered by a 3000 mAh removable battery.
