With every company releasing their revenue numbers for their third quarter and looking into numbers in the fourth quarter this year LG is sure not to miss out. LG Display this quarter have posted positive numbers in their accounts. Profits for LG’s Display arm is posted at Korean Won 474 billion, equivalent to RM1.48 billion. That is nearly 200 percent of increase compared to the previous quarter in this year, while it is a 22 percent of advantage compared to the third quarter last year.
Revenue wise we see a mere 9.5 percent growth compared to the previous quarter while compared to last year it stays around the same numbers. The growth of profits then could be contributed to lower production and operational costs. General numbers though do not tell the whole story. When specific revenues of each products are reviewed though something interesting reveals itself. We know that the profit numbers are mostly contributed by the TV display shipments and that has been the case for a while now since LG Display’s main business was in TV.
Growth in TV shipment is starting to noticeably flat line though but that is already expected with flat lining industry. What is interesting is the growth in the mobile and tablet displays revenue. It shows consistent increase through the years of the industry, not only that it shows the highest growth percentage in LG Display’s revenue contributors. This actually bodes well not only for LG Display but also to the smartphone and tablet industry as a whole. With the higher numbers it means that there is a definite increase in the demands of these devices in the market and it is still a market that is still full of potential. But coming back to LG, they actually have been posting profits all year long. Nice, very nice.
