Lenovo first introduced their Yoga franchise back in 2013 with their convertible laptop series which quickly expanded into their tablet space. This year, the Chinese manufacturer is looking to follow up their popular tablet and laptop line with a few new entries.
In the tablet space, Lenovo is refreshing their tablet line with the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 which will come in two sizes 8.0-inches and 10-inches. The tablets will come with the signature convertible design which Lenovo has become known for. The tablet will be able to function in the three modes previously available – Hold, Tilt and Stand – in addition to a new fourth mode, Hang. The Yoga tablet 2 has these modes thanks to the swivel stand which comes attached to bottom portion of the tablet which houses the tablet’s powerful battery. The Hang mode will allow users to hang the tablet using the hole in the stand.
The tablet is no slouch when it comes to specifications. It will be powered by the quad core Intel Atom Processor clocked at 1.86 GHz with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal space for the Windows version and 16GB for the Android version. Both of which are expandable by up to an additional 64GB via micro SD card slot. It comes with an 8.0-inch or 10.1-inch Full HD 1080p IPS display with 1920 x 1200 resolution and 10-point multitouch and a 178° viewing angle. It also comes with 2 front facing speakers with Dolby Audio and Wolfson Master Hi-Fi.
The Yoga Tablet 2 will come with a 8-MegaPixel f2.2 rear facing camera with Auto-Focus and a 1.6-MegaPixel front facing camera. It will also be able coming with a microSIM card slot which will give it 4G connectivity in addition to regular 3G GSM/EDGE and WCDMA connectivity in certain countries. All versions of the Yoga tablet 2 will come with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth connectivity as well as GPS connectivity. There are no specifics on the battery capacity of the tablet but Lenovo claims that the Yoga Tablet 2 has 15 hours of battery on a single charge though according to their disclaimer the tablet only has 2 hours of video and mp3 audio playback.
The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 will be coming with Android 4.4.2 `KitKat. Additionally, the Yoga Tablet 2 series will be coming in a Windows flavour. The Android powered versions of the Yoga tablet 2 will be available beginning October 9th in Europe for about €229 (RM 950/ USD$ 290) for the 8.0-inch version and €299 (RM 1240 / USD$ 378) for the 10-inch version. The Windows 8.1 versions will be retailing at €249 (RM 1030 / USD$ 315) for the 8.0-inch model and €399 (RM 1650 / USD$ 505) for the 10-inch model.
