Lenovo is planning on an official release of their high-end 6-inches smartphone into the Indian market very recently. Actually we can consider this a phablet instead with a display that big. It is set to be the most affordable high-end phablet as well in the market with prices starting from USD550 (RM1815.00) versus USD640 (RM2112.00) of the competing phablets. The name as many users in India would know and we can expect is the Vibe Z2 Pro.
What you can find on the Vibe Z2 Pro is a 6-inches 2560 x 1440 pixels Quad HD display up front. This is not the first Quad HD device that is released in India or South East Asia though. Under the display is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz paired with 3GB of RAM. For the Indian region the device will come with 32GB of storage as standard. It boasts a gigantic 4,000mAh battery that is not replaceable to keep the whole device juiced. With the amount of power coming from the massive battery though a second battery may just take up precious spaces of what is left in your pocket. It is also fitted with the usual array of networking antennas like 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and Wi-Fi 802.11ac as standard. The front shooter is quite an impressive 5-Megapixel camera while at the rear is an even more impressive 16MP shooter with OIS and 4K video capturing.
Hardware does not mean much if not paired with the right software. In this case the choice of Operating System for the phablet is Android’s 4.4.2 KitKat that is layered with Lenovo’s very own Vibe 2.0 interface. Just like any other manufacturer would do it is what Lenovo thinks its customers look for or how they translate what and Android should feel like. If you, however are the type that wants pure Android like the one you get from Google’s Nexus devices though Lenovo gives you the option to switch to the stock Android interface.
You get a choice of three colours if you are planning to buy this device; black, gold, and titanium. No whites for those who like those kind of things. In my opinion it may not look that good in white anyway. The official release date as stated by Lenovo in India is the Sixth of October and it is exclusive to Flipkart. Now keep in mind that this is India’s release and there are no other information pointing to any released dates here in Malaysia. Despite that though we can hope that the device will reach around the end of the month, or earlier. We do not really know also the official pricing of the product but we expect it to go at around RM1500-1800 competing with the Oppo Find 7. Of course this is quite a compelling device to look at when it arrives in the market. Be sure that we will be on the look out and check back in this space.
