Lenovo has only just launched its new device, the “Sisley” or Lenovo S90 but is already making headlines for its similarities with the iPhone 6.
In today’s mobile device market, it is common to see competitors adopting similar technology and design elements across their various devices. This practice is largely accepted baring the whole Samsung-Apple situation not too long ago. However, Lenovo is really pushing the boundaries of “drawing inspiration” with the Sisley S90. The device itself is not exactly a standout smartphone. It has a quad core Snapdragon 410 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM, a 5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, 16GB of internal storage, 13MP rear camera and an impressive 8MP front camera.
The real talking point here is the design of the phone itself. From the front, we can see a stark similarity to the iPhone 6 design, save for the navigation buttons at the bottom. The rear of the phone is also kept minimalistic like the iPhone 6 with a similar camera position to the top left corner. The damning evidence comes in the form of their marketing ads, where they employed a similar style and images to that of Apple’s as seen below.
It is truly surprising indeed for a reputable establishment such as Lenovo to employ such underhanded tactics in manufacturing and marketing their devices, even more so when the company is slowly making a name for itself in the market. All that’s left now is to wait for Apple’s eventual retaliation.
