If you have not heard of Lazada by now, please go and educate yourselves. It is the largest online marketplace or eCommerce platform in Malaysia. No, not only Malaysia it is the largest eCommerce platform in Southeast Asia. If you have not already known too; other than Malaysia Lazada operates in Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
In the eCommerce industry, at least for Southeast Asia, Lazada is also one of the most innovative eCommerce platform there is. They were the first online marketplace in Southeast Asia to offer general insurances in collaboration with AIG. They were also the first platform to host a number of official online stores for giant electronics brands like Samsung, Lenovo, and the likes.
Of course they have to keep innovating and pushing the boundaries to keep their competitive edge. They have to find something new, something that has never been done before. The answer was right under our noses all this while; milk.
So what does milk have to do with anything? Milk, of all things, is one thing that plenty do take for granted most days. It is available in any convenience stores, or supermarkets, or hypermarkets, or even the morning markets. It has become such a common resource that we do not think too much about purchasing one. The only consideration these days is whether or not it will fit the user based on age, and nutritional needs and value. Of course price always play a factor.
When it comes to buying things online though there is always that trust factor. It is that feeling on security and assurance that we always lack especially when buying food products online. Lazada wants to rectify that with their new collaboration.
They have collaborated with Abbott, Fonterra Brands, Friesland-Campina, Nestle, and Wyeth; all major milk producers in Malaysia to launch the region’s first ever guarantee programme for their milk formulas. This commitment is to ensure the reliability and freshness of these dairy products that is stored by Lazada. Through the collaboration Lazada hopes to increase that customer assurance factor when buying produces online.
The collaboration with these brands would require Lazada to work on keeping the shelf life of all the milk products stored in their warehouses up to stringent standards. It also means that Lazada would guarantee that each milk product bought from the platform are sourced through the aforementioned manufacturers. Each of the milk formula SKUs under the programme would also have to last for at least six months under their care.
What if your product is bad when it arrives? Lazada has that covered too. If your milk formula is bad when it is delivered they will compensate with a 200% mixed refund (100% cashback, 100% complementary vouchers). So far Lazada is the only eCommerce platform to dive into such programme.
