No KitKat for Huawei Ascend Mate 2
It’s an anxious experience waiting for the latest OS upgrade to be available for your device. It’s heartbreaking to receive news that any device won’t actually be receive that dear update you’ve been waiting for. It’s maddening when new devices recently released won’t get the upgrade when you just got it and there’s no explanation why you got left behind!
Well, we’re about to break some news to you that might just take you on the roller coaster of emotions described above. An American branch of Huawei has announced that the Ascend Mate 2 will not be getting KitKat, let alone Lollipop. Users are appalled with the company’s simple and vague explanation that customers can “expect superior hardware with the latest software going forward.” Hate messages and anger have already been flooding in and it’s bad.
The Ascend Mate 2 by Huawei was just released this July and cost USD$299 (MYR950) and features a 6.1 inch 720 display that runs on Snapdragon 400 mated with 2 GB RAM. KitKat was suppose to be for the lowest end devices and Huawei deciding not to give the Ascend Mate 2 some KitKat love is confusing since the device is only four months old! This might just be the straw that breaks the camels back for some users who’ve claimed to be through with Huawei.
Huawei has yet to comment on the backlash of this shocking announcement. Users will most probably be opting to root their phone. Will you be doing this? We don’t blame you if you.
