iWatch to launch with three sizes available
According to Economic Daily News based in Taiwan, Apple is looking to launch three variants of the Apple iWatch in third quarter of 2014. Two of these versions will be 1.8 inches in display while the remaining of the three will be sized at 1.6 inches. One of the 1.8 inch variants will be higher end in quality and price with the more durable sapphire display screen.
Reuters have claimed that the iWatch display screen may be as large as 2.5 inches. This however may seem a bit unlikely as it is a bit oversized to be considered slick and clean.
Another debate taking place is the date of release of the Apple iWatch. Re/Code has claimed that October is the date to be alert but did note that Apple might change its plans with the passing of time.
Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has however, recently reported that with the complexity of the iWatch, mass production may only occur in late November this year. This may be likely as Apple may not want to launch a product that competes with its own current products. Kuo points out that the iWatch uses many new hardware technologies, like a flexible AMOLED screen, a sapphire crystal cover and a much smaller form factor with higher waterproof standards than other highly advanced Apple devices. Additionally, Kuo notes that redesigning iOS for the iWatch may also be proving a difficult challenge for Apple. The company may make official announcement revolving around the device in October and mass produce it only in November.
Anyhow, it looks at least, that we will be getting a launch this year. This is unlike the Apple iPhone 6’s launch date that keeps being inconsistent on whether it’ll be this year or the next. We’re expecting to receive the Apple iWatch in time for the festive season at the end of the year.
