The Apple iPhone 6 models were just launched about two days ago and you’d think that everyone would be excited and in awe of the much anticipated devices. Well, you thought wrong! The iPhone 6 has become the butt of a majority of jokes!
The South Korean tech giant, Samsung has spent millions just to make fun of its biggest rival. It even created a hastag #morethanbig to start an anti-iPhone 6 campaign. The ad quotes an old Steve Jobs line that said “no one is going to buy a big phone” and it follows with “guess who surprised themselves and changed their mind!”. Well, looks like someone’s jealous that Apple is the more popular one. And if it couldn’t get any more high school drama, Samsung even made commercials just to make fun of the Cupertino company! Here are two of the six ads by Samsung.
Sadly though, Sony has also followed suit and trolled the iPhone 6 as well. However, the Japanese tech company did it in a more subtle way.
Sony took the opportunity to bring attention to the iPhone 6’s protruding camera which most of the fans have been complaining about. “The only thing that sticks out with the Xperia Z3 is its features,” the ad says. “Don’t settle for good. #DemandGreat.” Well, Sony is known for its solid built on its devices so I guess I’d give that one to them.
If that wasn’t enough, OnePlus decided to take a shot at the iPhone 6 as well. The ad compares the OnePlus One which is the recently launched flagship by the company with the iPhone 6. Both are similar in size at 5.5 inches. It even included a comparison chart which pointed out that the OnePlus One has a bigger battery, a better 13 megapixel rear camera and 3 GB of RAM compared to the iPhone 6’s 2915 mAh battery, its 8 megapixel camera and 1 GB of RAM. The ad even has a tag line, “Hey Apple, welcome to the PLUS family.” to point out the size increase of the new iPhone 6.
It seems like everyone is eager to be a comedian. Either way, it’s a regular habit for tech companies to poke fun at each other. We’ll just see who has the last laugh when the Apple iPhone 6 goes on sales on September 19th.
