Intel Goes Smaller and Fanless
The CPU speed war is not something new, we all know that. Over the years CPU makers like Intel and AMD has been in an all out war, not really with each other but with the law of physics. These CPU makers always try to squeeze out every last ounce of power and processing speed they could get from chips. More than that they are trying to make these chips smaller and smaller. Now with more processing power and speed, more heat comes along. If you are an expert in computer hardware and an over-clocker you would know what I mean. That is why it took Intel millions and even billions of Dollars to develop a whole new chip. Recently though they have been developing the Core M Processor. Being a new processor the chip is faster, more efficient and probably slightly smaller. On top of those, Intel makes this processor fanless. Yes fanless; as in no fans. Now it is not fanless as in the Microsoft Surface 3 tablet ‘fanless’. That tablet has a new design of fans to keep it cooled, quiet and comfortable at the same time. This new Core M processor is just a processor running without needing any sort of fan to cool it down. What this means is that tablets could be built thinner and lighter than ever. Intel’s new showcase of a tablet shows exactly just that; super thin tablet with Intel Core M processor powerful enough to run Android and even Windows. It is not known yet whether this processor would be available to consumers any time soon but we are definitely excited to see it working on an actual consumer device soon.
