Acer’s IFA 2019 sees a very interesting launch of a brand-new projector. Yes, they make projectors too, aside from monitors for all kinds of use. The projector in question is the brand new C250i Portable LED Projector and it does not look like any other projector you might have come across.
Acer C250i LED Projector
For starters, we must talk about what they pack inside the projector. As per the product’s name, it packs an LED bulb in its body. LED bulbs lasts longer than LCD bulbs with a quoted 30,000 hours of use time.
The projection is a Full HD 1080p display, which means Netflix will still look good even when you watch it from a closer distance. Additionally, it is free of cables, you can project your Android or iOS wirelessly from the projector. This poses another problem though, the screen orientation.
It displays at 300 ANSI lumens in brightness, more than enough in low-light conditions but still viewable in lighted rooms. The Acer C250i also packs a battery that keeps the projector running for up to 5 hours. Of course, for it to be a one-stop solution, it has a Bluetooth speaker for the best possible portable movie experience. If not, you can just use the Acer C250i as a wireless Bluetooth speaker.
When you first start projecting from your smartphone your home screen would be in a vertical format. That also means you are losing resolution when you put it through a projector or an external display.
Not with the C250i though. Displaying your device from the projector on portrait mode can still be in Full HD. All you need to do is tilt the C250i to stand on its side and it will automatically adjust the display to display natively in portrait mode.
That is another thing with this projector though, it automatically detects the surface and angle of its placement and automatically adjusts the display with the right angle corrections to get a proper projection. Thanks to the clever geometrical cylinder design too you can put the projector in any awkward angle and it will project at that angle (landscape mode). It is quite genius this design. The cylindrical design also means that this is quite compact so you can carry it around for your off-site presentations.
Acer PL1 Series – 4000-Lumen Will Light up Your World
In addition to the portable projector, Acer launched a projector meant to be sit still. They call it the PL1 series. It packs 4000-Lumen in brightness, which might blind you if you stare into it. It is an industrial projector though.
What that means is that this is mean for a projection that is supposed to be shared by hundreds to thousands in an event venue or exhibition venue. Large scale means more light and more powerful light is needed with some light in the room. The 4000-Lumen should come in handy here.
Since it is supposed to be the industrial workhorse it is, they have designed the projector to run non-stop. That means you can leave the projector running in the hall 24/7 if you need it to. Thanks to 30,000 hours of laser bulb lifetime too, your maintenance costs goes down significantly.
