NVIDIA has been hard at work since COMPUTEX 2019 bringing the latest ray tracing enabled graphics technology to the masses. With the announcement of the new RTX Super graphics cards earlier in July, the company was looking to bring even more performance to the market. However, at IFA, the focus is once again on the creators.
With their focus on creators, NVIDIA realised the need for uncompromising performance combined with portability. In the market now, we have powerful laptops which are catered to gaming and design but a majority of them are bulky, heavy and cumbersome. With their Max-Q design which was introduced over a year ago, we saw slimmer laptops with more powerful graphics performance.
This was only the beginning. This year, NVIDIA introduced the new “ACE” concept design which looks to make things even slimmer and portable. Utilizing titanium vapour chambers, the new ACE design concept looks to bring more efficient cooling while minimising the thickness of the laptop. This combined with an enhanced and optimised Optimus Technology. The company is looking to create a better overall dual GPU experience.
The new Optimus Technology will ensure better, more efficient switching between the integrated graphics unit of the processor and the NVIDIA dedicated graphics processor. This should help with power efficiency as the enhanced Optimus technology will minimise the need to toggle between the processors manually. Aside from this, the new ACE design comes with a Professional 4K 120Hz display. The “Ace” concept design will come with a 300W power adapter which is half the size of current power adapters.
NVIDIA Quadro RTX6000 Goes Mobile
NVIDIA is bringing one of its most powerful graphics processors to mobile systems. The Quadro graphics cards is one of the most powerful graphics cards in NVIDIA arsenal. With the announcement of the new “Ace”concept design, NVIDIA is pushing boundaries by bringing the Quadro RTX6000 to laptop systems starting with the ASUS ProArt StudioBook One.
ASUS ProArt StudioBook One: The First Commercial Ace Concept Workstation
The first laptop to be announced with the Ace Concept design is the ASUS ProArt StudioBook One. The new ASUS StudioBook One is the first laptop to come with the NVIDIA Quadro RTX6000 graphics card. The RTX6000 comes with 24GB of dedicated VRAM. It is also able to do real time ray tracing and is capable of AI-accelerated workflows. It’s VR and RTX game ready.
The ASUS ProArt StudioBook One comes with the Intel Core i9 which comes with 8-cores. This is paired with 64GB of RAM and 1TB NVMe SSD. As per the Ace concept, the StudioBook One comes with a 4K display panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display panel covers 100% of the AdobeRGB spectrum and 97% of the DCI-P3 spectrum; and it is calibrated with a ΔE<1. These settings are factory calibrated.
It also has Intel 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac WiFi connectivity and Bluetooth 5.0. It has three USB-C Thunderbolt 3.0 ports and a proprietary power connector. It will be powered by a 90Whr battery.
