Mid-range smartphones are becoming increasingly more important to companies as consumers are demanding for more value in their smartphone investments. One of the first companies to realise this was HMD. Even when they brought the Nokia brand name back to the market, the company focused on bringing build quality and battery life to the consumers without sacrificing performance in the first Nokia 6.
This ethos doesn’t change with the Nokia 6.2. The new Nokia 6 brings even more features that help elevate the user experience of the device. The one feature that helps with this is the independent DSP (digital signal processor) developed by Pixelworks. This DSP allows the Nokia 6.2’s 6.3-inch Full HD PureDisplay to produce stunning images even with dated, Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) content. The DSP automatically upscales any SDR content to HDR (High Dynamic Range) expanding the colours of the content to make it more vibrant and expressive.
In addition, the 6.2 comes with HMD’s signature Nokia promise of two days battery life. With the large, 3,500 mAh battery built into the Nokia 6.2 and the many optimisations HMD global has done, the smartphone should be able to last two days without much fuss.
Like it’s more advanced sibling the Nokia 7.2, the Nokia 6.2 also comes with a triple camera sensor main camera. However, the 6.2’s camera array doesn’t come with ZEISS Optics. That said, it has a powerful 16-megapixel main sensor with an aperture of f/1.8. This is paired with a 5-megapixel depth sensor and an 8-megapixel wide angle sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. The front camera of the Nokia 6.2 is an 8-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.
Timeless Nordic Design with Powerful Internals and Secure Software
HMD has decided that Nokia’s homeland would inspire the design of their new Android smartphones. As such, the new Nokia 6 comes with a unique design which hearkens to the icy origins of its brand. With a unique polymer body and an “aluminium heart”, the Nokia 6.2 is more sturdy than ever. This new polymer is twice as hard as polycarbonate and half the weight of aluminium. It is sandwiched with Gorilla Glass 3 on both the front and back of the device. The glossy finish also highlights the unique diffraction pattern that HMD Global has designed on the back of the device.
However, value isn’t only skin deep. The new Nokia 6.2 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor which should be able to handle most tasks. This is complemented with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and either 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of internal memory. Its microSD card slot allows up to 512GB of extra memory. The Nokia 6.2 will come with a triple card tray which allows for the use of dual SIM cards and a microSD card.
HMD Global prides itself in being recognised for having one of the most secure phones in the market. The company has been able to deploy monthly security patch across all its Android devices. In addition, being part of the Android One program, its Android smartphones have a pure Android experience. As such, it comes as no surprise that the Nokia 6.2 is Android 10 ready and is launching with the latest version of Android Pie with the latest security patches.
