CAT has released its own smartphone during IFA 2014! For those who aren’t aware, CAT is a company that focus on making products that are strong and practical. Its main aim is to make tough and innovative gadgets that can withstand anything. All CAT’s gadgets are boasted to be one of the most durable in the market.
The company has announced its new rugged Android smartphone, the CAT S50. The phone sports a 4.7 inch 720p resolution display and offers shatter-proof screen glass. It runs on a quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor. The S50 is equipped with an 8 megapixel main rear camera that is mated with 720p video and LED flash. The gadget also features 8 GB expandable storage and LTE connectivity. It is in addition, running on Android 4.4 KitKat OS that is free from any sort of customizations.
The CAT S50 is IP67 certified. This implies that it is dust protected and water resistant up to one meter for about half an hour.
The device is also MIL-810G certified. This means that it has enhanced resistance to salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock.
CAT has also included the CAT App Store that has over a thousand apps that are relevant to CAT users. The device has already hit the market all around the globe and cost about USD$ 500 (RM 1800) depending on region. It comes in various colours such as Forest and Slate. To top it all off, the company has included an shock absorbent rubber for the device.
