Acer announced a handful of brand new spanking PCs and tablets at the IFA 2014 event Day 1!
The ones we’re really interested in are the Aspire Switch Transforming Notebooks and The Iconia Tab 8 W.
The Acer The Iconia Tab 8 W is the only tablet announced that runs on Windows. It features a 7-inch IPS screen running at 1280 x 800 while running on a quad-core Intel Atom Z3735G processor. It’s design is solid, thin and light. The Acer Iconia Tab 8 W comes with Windows 8.1 with Bing and a free one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal. There is an option of adding a full-sized Acer Crunch Keyboard.
The Acer Aspire Switch Transforming Notebooks is the company’s line of notebooks that have detachable screens that can be used as tablets. The new additions to the family are a 10.1 inch and a 11.6 inch which can be used as notebook, pad, display and tent.
The existing Aspire Switch 10.1 series has added a new model with a Full HD 1080p IPS display completed with Gorilla Glass 3. It is one of the thinnest transforming PCs in the market at 8.9mm thin or 20.2mm including the keyboard dock. It weighs 1.29 pounds and has up to 8 hours of battery life. It runs on a quad-core Intel Atom processor and is equipped with 2 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of SSD storage. The device offers one free year osubscription to MicrosoftPersonal and Windows 8.1. The device will start shipping this month with a price of USD$330 (RM 1060).
The Acer Aspire Switch 11 series has two variants – high and low end. The high-end versions is equipped with an 11.6-inch Full HD display and a HD webcam. It runs on Intel Core i3 and i5 processors. The device is equipped with 4 GB of RAM and has up to 128 GB of HDD storage. On the other hand for the low end variant, the device sports a lower 1366 x 768 display and runs an Intel Atom processor. It features 2 GB of RAM and has up to 64 GB of eMMC storage. Both models run Windows 8.1. The Acer Aspire Switch 11 series will start shipping in October with prices starting at USD$399 (RM 1700).
