Huawei has confirmed that it will be releasing a sapphire displayed smartphone this year. The Chinese manufacturer has revealed its plans to ENGadget that it hopes to release the extra durable headset somewhere in September as a limited edition smartphone.
Known as the Sapphire version of the Ascend P7, the device will reportedly be exclusive to the China market starting this month via Huawei’s online store. No word has been given on the pricing or whether the headset will be available in other regions. The current Ascent P7 is equipped with a glass design featuring a 5 inch 1080p resolution display. It already looks quite enticing with some massive solid hardware being featured so we can’t wait to see it’s sapphire finish this month.
With the iPhone 6 boasting a sapphire glass feature, many companies, not just Huawei are trying to keep up. XiaoMi and Vivo are in the works with a sapphire displayed smartphone and Kyocera has already announced its sapphire equipped variant! It really seems like this year, everything is a race – from sapphire glass displays to smartwatches to home automation!
