Earlier this month, Huawei’s latest gadget, the P8, is spotted in the Malaysian SIRIM database – fuelling rumors that it will be launched in Malaysia soon. True enough, Malaysian online store Vmall had announced that the P8 will be available to pre-order on the 2nd June at a specific time: 3.08 p.m. At the same time, Singapore will have their own regional launch on the same date. With the pre-rder, Vmall offered a special bundle offer where customers will be able to get free accessories and 30% discount for Talkband B2 through a coupon code.
The P8 is packed with 5.2 inches of Full HD display, and will be powered by their own Kirin 930/935 Octa-core processor which is paired with 3GB of RAM. What makes it unique is that it is the world’s first 4 colored 13MP camera that saves captured pictures in RGBW format. Along with the camera, there’s Optical Image Stabilisation that comes with presets to perform light painting photos. The front end camera is loaded with 8MP camera with enhanced auto beautification features – selfie or wefie lovers, rejoice! The phone will be available for retail at RM1799.
Along with P8 comes P8 Lite – a lower-end variant phone that is more affordable. Its size is slightly smaller with 5 inches 1280x720p display. They still use their own Kirin processor, but with 620 Octa-core processor instead of the 930 or 935 processor. The P8 Lite version has 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal memory, 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. This Lite version will be retailed at RM899.
Aside from the launch of P8 and P8 Lite, Huawei also announced three new Android devices that includes MediaPad T1 7.0 tablet, along with Y3 and Y5 smartphones. Y3 smartphone is the most affordable of the bunch – retailing at RM249. It’s a 4-inch 800x480p display with Spreadtrum 7731 1.3GHz quad-core processor, packed with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
Huawei Y5, retailed at RM339, is powered by the same processor of Y3. It has a bigger display, RAM, and Internal Storage (of which can be expanded). Both Y3 and Y5 will run on Android 4.4 KitKat, will have 3G features, and is dual-SIM support. They are excellent for low-end ranges and are very affordable.
The tablet, on the other hand, retails at RM649. It has a 7-inch 1024 x 960 IPS display and is pakced with a Spreadtrum SC7731G 1.2GHz quad-core processor that is paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It also features a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 32GB, a 4,100mAh battery, and Emotion UI 3.0 based on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. Camera wise, it has a 2MP rear and 2MP front cameras.
