Huawei definitely have benefitted from the boom of Chinese manufacturers in the year 2014. The Chinese boom of manufacturers was definitely sparked by Xiaomi with its Mi3’s rapid market expansion. With that piece of news Huawei can breath easy and keep pushing the market in the year 2015.
How well did Huawei did in 2014 you ask? They have increased their global shipment of devices by 33% year-on-year last year. Internal memo viewed from Reuters have shown that Huwei shipped out 75 million smartphones last year and have sold about US$11.8 billion (MYR42.5 billion) worth of smartphones last year. Even though they have made such a huge achievement, bigger than plenty of the other industry players they actually hit their target number of 80 million sold devices. Keep in mind though that this memo is not a final official report from Huawei and the numbers could vary some more when the reports are released within the coming weeks.
With the numbers they have unofficially posted though it does look very bright for Huawei and the other Chinese vendors. 2015 should be the year the Chinese manufacturers shine and keep their striding momentum in gaining the global market share. We would not be surprised if Xiaomi lands in the number two spot for the global marketshare while Huawei gets into the top five club in the same market space. Do watch out for the official reports though in this space.
