The Huawei Ascend P7 just made its debut half a year ago but it seems that the company is gearing up for the release for its successor as early as January next year!
Known as the Huawei Ascend P8, the device is rumored to be in the midst of testing. It should be near to being a premium flagship smartphone. According to rumors, the Ascend P8 should sport a 5.2 inch 1080p display and have a “2.5D” tapered edge.
With the trend of using more premium materials, the Ascend P8 might feature a metallic built with ceramic back and buttons. It also will most probably, come with a fingerprint scanner on its back or a dual LED flash setup as seen in the leaked image above.
Whispers also say that the device will be have a 16nm FinFET Huawei Kirin 930 SoC manufactured by TSMC as its heart but this seems more than a little doubtful as the mass production of this chipset begins later in 2015.
We would take the rumors with a grain of salt but if the Ascend P8 does launch, it should only carry a few upgrades from its predecessors. The device should be priced around CNY 2999 (USD$490/MYR1650).
