HTC teases new Desire 820 for IFA 2014
We’re expecting to see two type of phones in the HTC line up at IFA 2014. The flagship One (M8) and all of its metal variants should be featured as well as the Desire smartphone HTC line. The Desire smartphones are made out of plastic and generally more affordable than the One (M8).
However, as the clock ticks to IFA 2014, it seems that a new teaser from HTC may point at a possible new Desire headset being in the mix. Via its Weibo account, the Taiwanese tech company posted a new image that read 8-2-0. We’ve yet to hear about a HTC smartphone with the name 820. But since there is the Desire 816, it is only logical that we think that there might just be a Desire 820 coming our way.
According to whispers by @upleaks, if we do see the Desire 820, it could feature a quad-core 64-bit Snapdragon 410 (MSM-8916) with just 1.5GB RAM. It will also sport a 5.5-inch 720p display, an 8 megapixel front shooter which is mated with a 13 megapixel main rear camera. The device is rumoured to sport 8 GB of storage and is powered by a 2600 mAh battery. The device might also be the first plastic headset 64-bit Android device to hit the market.
If HTC is planning a new headset to join the family, the IFA 2014 in Berlin will be the optimum place to launch it! With all the other tech giants using the event to launch new gadgets, HTC doing so would just add to the existing excitement.
Don’t forget, HTC is also set to launch two smartwatches at the event. The first of the two is codenamed WWY and will feature a 1.8-inch display and 32 x 160 resolution, with a 100 mAh battery and a water-resistant body. Rumour has it that the WWY will function similar to a fitness tracker. The second of the two is the CWZ which is the Android Wear addition from HTC that has been in the works.
Both smartwatches are set to launch this month and we’re hoping that HTC uses the IFA 2014 as an opportunity to show off its wearable tech as well as the HTC Desire 820.
