According to a report by Bloomberg, Fred Liu and Ben Ho have been let go from their senior positions at HTC. Liu held the position of HTC’s president of engineering and operations and just replaced Matthew Costello who left in June 2013. Ho has been managing HTC’s marketing department since 2012.
Ho has been the main man to ease the worries of investors of the company and has been placed in a hard situation with shrinking sales and protracted malaise. It seems that according to ENGadget, the failure of an expensive ad campaign featuring Robert Downey Jr. last year played a big part of Ho’s departure.
Ho and Liu will continue in their positions the next few months before they permanently vacant their positions. Their departure is a continuation of the upheaval seen with Scott Croyle, HTC’s chief designer sudden resignation in April. It was reported that Ho and Liu were let go in a ‘nice way’ and have been passing off their responsibilities in a gradual pace for the past few months.
Update: Liu seems to have plans to move to a new role instead of just walking away from the company. Liu was named the Managing Director overseeing Emerging Products, Service, Manufacturing and IT in HTC’s latest earning report.
