HTC has been going through some tough times this past year. They have been reporting loss after loss, decline after decline. They were clearly struggling in the smartphone industry with criticisms after criticisms. It shows in their products too; they were good, but somehow not enough. Somehow though HTC made a comeback this year on with their One M8 which received high praises. Even with the high praises for the HTC One M8 though critiques still think that HTC would not be able to score a profit for this year. HTC though has proved everyone wrong in this quarter through their revenue report. HTC up until the recent third quarter of this year has been posting losses and does not seem to be recovering from it. In the reported quarter though HTC posted a net profit of NT$0.64 billion, that is about RM69 million in profits. What is interesting about the profit we see here is that it is not supported by the sales numbers, those actually went further down. How they managed to post these profit numbers is through cuts in expenses and costs. Cutting of costs and expenses sound like compromises in quality but that is not what we are seeing here with their new products. It is interesting though to watch HTC doing it right to rake in the important profits. This profits also means that HTC can breath a little easier and focus on creating great products that people want to use.
