HTC to Re-enter Tablet Market
HTC has been in the rumours a lot lately with their new flagship showing up as well as new rumours pointing to the Taiwanese device manufacturer returning to the tablet market. HTC dabbled briefly in the tablet market with the HTC Flyer as well as the HTC Jetstream which were some of the first Android tablets on the market. However, these efforts in the tablet space were very short lived with the company pulling out of the market soon after the release of the HTC Jetstream which wasn’t officially released in Malaysia.
Be it as it may, Google still tapped HTC to manufacture the follow up to their popular Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, the Nexus 9. The Nexus program by Google was always intended to be a reference platform which would set the benchmark for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as HTC and Samsung (just to name a few) to create their own devices. But, over the past years, Nexus devices have become more of a cult favourite with more and more of the general market purchasing them. This is largely due to the unadulterated version of Android on the Nexus devices and also the quick update turnaround.
With the launch of the HTC made Nexus 9, it looks like the Taiwanese manufacturer will be making its way back into the tablet market. This comes as no surprise as the Nexus 9 did get an overall positive reaction from the market. The news comes courtesy of @upleaks on twitter who has leaked a whole list of HTC devices which lists the upcoming HTC HIMA, which is believed to be the successor to the One M8, the Butterfly 3, the RE Camera 2 and a curious note on a tablet based on the Nexus 9 labelled as T1H. from the leak, it looks like the HTC Tablet will be taking its cues heavily from the recently released Nexus 9. This may indicate that the T1H maybe coming with the NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor which was used in the Nexus9 with 3GB of RAM. However, we can’t be sure as of yet.
