With the HTC One M8 flagship rolling out not too long ago, a recent leak has revealed that there is a scaled down version of it in the works dubbed the HTC One Mini 2. Although no official announcement has been made by HTC, various leaks have added some credibility to the rumour, the most compelling being actual pictures of the new phone with some obvious changes from its bigger brother.
One of the hallmark features of the One M8 is the Duo Camera system, which uses two lenses; one for the camera and one as a pixel sensor that provides depth for the photos you take. As seen in the picture above, there is only one lens present, which suggests that the Duo Camera system will not be a part of the Mini 2, with it just retaining the 13 megapixel camera only. The design of the phone itself more closely resembles the One M8 than its predecessor, the HTC One Mini, which initially led to the leaked phone to be dubbed HTC One M8 Mini. Another observable feature is that the build of the body is more metal compared to the M8 and sports a 4.5-inch 720p display.
An official list of specs has not been released but rumour has it that there will be a 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor under the hood with 1GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. It is also rumoured to come bundled with Android 4.4 and Sense 6. It will be available in three colours; brushed metal, silver and gold.
The leaked images and rumours seem promising for the HTC One Mini 2. Watch this space for more updates!
