There appears to be a new trend in the mobile market involving releasing super-charged versions of flagships towards the end of the calendar year in a bid to boost sales. Samsung has recently been rumoured to be sizing up a Galaxy S5 Prime and now HTC has also been rumoured to do the same with its One M8 flagship, dubbed the One M8 Prime. Following the release of the lacklustre One Max last year, HTC will be keen to outdo itself this time around.
Rumoured specifications of the HTC One M8 Prime include most notably a massive 5.5-inch quad HD display with a pixel density of 534 pixels per inch. Under the hood, it will pack a Snapdragon 805 with 3GB of RAM. 16GB of storage is rumoured but with no word on SD card expandability.
The Duo Camera feature appears to be retained with a major improvement from the One M8 flagship. It will now sport a 5 megapixel camera with a speculated 18 megapixel sensor, a massive jump from the 2 megapixel sensor in the One M8. With a difference of such magnitude, it would be interesting to compare the image quality between these two models. Another rumoured feature is that this smartphone will be able to support USB 3.0.
The specifications of the rumoured HTC One M8 Prime looks tantalizing indeed and we can’t wait to hear more of what it has to offer. The speculated release date for this product is September.
