HTC Nexus 9 is Malaysia Bound
The Nexus 9 model with the 4G LTE version has been spotted on our local SIRIM database. The device will support our local 1800MHz/2600MHz LTE bands.
The original rumours of the HTC Nexus 9 started off with a 10 inch device, then an 8 inch device and finally a 9 inch device with the metallic unibody design HTC is already well known for in the Android space. However, the final product, is coming with design choices that mirror the 2013 edition of the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 5. This means the Nexus 9 will be coming with a textured, soft touch back with the Nexus brand vertically aligned on the back. There is some influence coming from its recently released Nexus 6 with a metal trim surrounding the soft touch backing.
The biggest change, aside from manufacturer and design, coming with the Nexus 9 is the jump Android is making when it comes to processing. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with native 64-bit processing which only a handful of current or upcoming devices are taking advantage of. The Nexu 9 will be leading Android’s foray into 64-bit territory taking the title of the first Android tablet with 64-bit processing capabilities. This comes thanks to NVIDIA’s dual-core Tegra K1 which is clocked 2.3 GHz and paired with NVIDIA’s cutting edge Kepler DX1 graphics unit.
Aside from that the Nexu 9 comes with 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB of storage without microSD support. Display wise, the tablet comes with an 8.9-inch IPS LCD Display with a resolution of 1536 x 2048 resolution which comes with Gorilla Glass protection. It comes with a modest array of sensors including gyro, Accelerometer, proximity & compass. In addition, the Nexus 9 comes with Near Field Communications (NFC), Bluetooth 4.1, WiFI a/b/g/n/ac as well as GPS and GLONASS capabilities.
The Nexus 9 will come with an 8-Megapixel camera capable of 1080p video and stereo sound recorfing with autofocus and LED flash. It will also come with a 1.6-MegaPixel front facing camera with 720p video recording capabilities. All of this will be supported by a non-removable 6700 mAh battery which boasts up to 720 hours of stand by time and upto 9 and a half hours of usage on 3G.
All of this is housed in a 22.61 cm x 15.37 cm x 0.79cm body weighing only 425 grams for the WiFi model. As for price, the Nexus 9 is being sold in America for USD$599 (MYR2000). The imported Nexus 9 is being sold at MYR1379 (USD$401) for 16GB WiFi and MYR1599 (USD$465) for the 32GB WiFi version at the moment.
