The rumours about the HTC Nexus 8 tablet has been going around for years. And it seems there is another new pile of whispers about to be added to a growing mountain.
Just recently, the Nexus 8 passed certification at the Korean RRA with the device number “0P82100″. According to @upleaks, the device also known as Volantis or Flounder goes by the code name T1. Rumour has it that the device will feature high end specs and be the first Nexus device to be running on the latest Android L.
HTC’s Nexus 8 will be equipped with a 64-bit Nvidia Tegra processor, which is likely to be the Tegra K1 with Denver CPU cores, 4GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel rear camera with flash, a 1.6 megapixel front facing camera, and the usual assortment of NFC and GPS connections. Along with that, the device will feature a 2560×1600 resolution display and a metal housing for a nice finish.
But of course, along with higher end specs comes a higher end price. The Nexus 8 will definitely be sporting a pricier tag compared to the previous Nexus 7. Official sources have mentioned that the device will ship in lower volumes compared to previous tablets and will cost more than $300 (RM 650).
Production of the device has begun and we should see a launch somewhere next month. With the inclusion of Android L, we expecting to see the device as early as this fall or at latest by the end of the year.
