What is this we see? Did HTC just leak its very own Android Wear in an ad?
We weren’t expecting any appearance by the device till late this year! But it seems the rumours are true! The company may have accidentally revealed a glimpse in a promotional YouTube video last month.
The video above focuses on the HTC design team and is about a minute long. But at 35 seconds, we get a little teaser of the smartwatch on a HTC designer’s desk. We have a zoomed in picture below. We’re definitely seeing a square interface with a wristband!
Later in the video, you see the exact same device displayed on the same employee’s computer in all its glory. There hasn’t been much talk about the smartwatch but the rumoured HTC One Wear is suppose to come in metal and plastic variants. @evleaks displayed the metal variant and it looks like this video shows us the plastic variant.
We’re waiting anxiously for HTC’s version of the Android Wear. So did HTC reach out to comment? That is actually a yes. According to the company, that is not the HTC One Wear and is just some side project by the relevant designer. Here’s the full statement:
“HTC encourages our design team to explore and tinker with new ideas and even models, as is the case with the watch some viewers noticed in our recent HTC Design video. It in no way indicates an actual product HTC is planning to release. Keep an eye on this space for exciting new products from HTC when they are ready to be announced!”
Well… our excitement died down a little but you never know… it might just be the company covering up their own boo boo. We just have to wait and see!
