HTC has sent out invites for an October 8 event with the tagline “Double Exposure”. The event is taking place in New York and will kick off at 4 p.m. EST ( 5 a.m. October 9th Malaysian Time). The invite shows two ladies holding a smartphone taking a selfie leading many to speculate that HTC may unveil a new device at the event with an emphasis on the front facing camera. Some event speculating that HTC may bring its Duo camera technology to the front facing camera. There have also been rumours and reports of a device being developed at HTC called the HTC Eye which has been hinted to have an emphasis on the front facing camera.
However, according to Bloomberg, the Taiwanese device manufacturer may be launching a camera. According to the report, HTC has been developing a tube-shaped ruggedized camera which will be equipped with a 16-MegaPixel sensor with a wide-angled lens. This camera will apparently be able to wirelessly connect to Android and iOS devices. From the looks of it, it sounds like HTC may be looking to give Sony and GoPro some competition.
