HTC has just announced the arrival of their latest entry-level device; the HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12+ into Malaysia. That, and they are launching their official eCommerce channel via Shopee. Here is where I hear; “so what?”
Let’s talk about the new smartphone first. HTC’s new entry-level Desire 12 and Desire 12+ are specced very differently to our surprise. The HTC Desire 12 packs a MediaTek MT6739 Quad-Core processor that is paired to 3GB of RAM and a PowerVR GE8100 GPU. Those should not be breaking any records so technically there is nothing to shout about. You get a 32GB storage space which is expandable up to 2TB via MicroSD.
Out the back, the HTC Desire 12 packs a 13-Megapixel shooter with f/2.2 aperture for some decent low-light performance. It even has HDR capability and records video at 1080p Full HD resolution. Shooting out of the front of the device is a 5-Megapixel camera with f/2.4 aperture. The photos are displayed via a 5.5-inch HD+ 720 x 1,440 pixels IPS display.
Unlike plenty of many manufacturers that are looking to rid the world off 3.5mm jacks the HTC Desire 12 still has a traditional 3.5mm jack. If wireless listening is more your thing there is Bluetooth 4.2. Instead of the modern USB Type-C port HTC chose to go traditional Micro-USB 2.0 for the Desire 12; which is quite odd. Powering the Android 8.0 Oreo with HTC Sense is a 2,730mAh non-removable battery.
Then we look at the Desire 12+ which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Octa-Core processor with Adreno 506 GPU and 3GB of RAM. That Qualcomm firepower is used to power up the 13-Megapixel plus 2-Megapixel dual camera set up that shoots at f/2.2 aperture. Of course you can record videos in 1080p Full HD. That rear shooter is paired with an 8-Megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture for better low-light performance. That dual-camera photos can be seen on the large 6.0-inch HD+ 720 x 1,440 pixels IPS screen.
To store all that hi-res photos is a 32GB storage that can be expanded up to 2TB via MicroSD. It has a fingerprint sensor that is quite standard these days. It also retains the 3.5mm headphone jack while packing Bluetooth 4.2 at the same time. Like the Desire 12 also the Desire 12+ charges via a Micro-USB 2.0 port instead of a USB Type-C. The Android 8.0 Oreo device is juiced up by a 2,965mAh non-removable battery.
At the same time, HTC is opening their official store in Shopee. That also means that the HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12+ will be sold first on Shopee.
In tandem of this occasion also the HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12+ is out on pre-order on Shopee starting tomorrow with special prices.
