HTC Android Wear Plans Shelved
Images of HTC’s Android Wear smartwatch has been something many true HTC lovers have been anticipating. With leaked photos and video cameos, everything seemed to be going as planned. But, HTC fans are about to get smack back to reality sadly.
Sources have reported that the Taiwanese manufacturer was all set and ready to go for the launch of its smartwatch when plans have been unexpectedly put on hold for the time being. Reasons are unknown as to why the gadget has been shelved. One of the whispers in the rumor mill is that the HTC watch was getting way too expensive and it kind of lacked the ‘wow’ factor everyone has been waiting for.
After IFA 2014, HTC may have taken a step back to really evaluate whether it is going to be able to go up against the fierce competition in the smartwatch market. With Motorola, LG, Sony and even ASUS joining in the Android Wear high, we really expected HTC to be a front runner in the race. We guess the company took heed to the saying “if you can’t stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen.”
It is truly upsetting however as the device was said to sport a Mirasol display and offer mind blowing battery life as well as be outdoor oriented. We were looking forward to see how this all worked out in a simple and squared yet strong and well designed product.
Nevertheless, this is just a rumor. HTC has yet to comment or announce any further information. Hopefully this sad rumor doesn’t turn out to be true.
