Reports have been flying about that HTC has canned plans to release its own version of Android Wear. Why would the tech company do this? Well, it seems it thought that it couldn’t keep up with the competition in the smartwatch market.
However, it seems the reports aren’t true. Reports from CNET are saying that HTC is still releasing a smartwatch in the beginning of next year. Both reports are unofficial however so both need to be taken with a grain of salt.
If the HTC smartwatch does launch, it is suppose to be filled with the company’s own apps and watchfaces. This is to make it unique and stand out from the rest of devices running on the Android Wear platform. HTC won’t be able to actually alter the UI, though, as Google doesn’t allow this level of customization.
HTC is decided to keeps lips sealed on the matter as it refused to comment.
