Google Maps has just been updated with the newest version that includes improved support for Android Wear notification and voice navigation. In addition, there is a new ‘Explore’ button that is located on the bottom right corner of the map that offers a quick look at nearby hot spots.
Google Maps Product Manager Taj Campbell stated that, “With Explore as your guide, you’ll see different places and activities that adapt to each area and moment throughout the day.”
Daily Google Maps users can now use Explore to discover nearby results or broaden up the range from a 5 minute walk to a 20 minute drive. The search suggestion has also changes based on context like time of the day and the weather. For a better result, users can sign into Google Maps with the location report and the history turned on.
Campbell also said that users can no longer worry about wondering where to find the best breakfast spot or where to go for dinner or even if there’ll be a thunderstorm just at they arrive at the park. The updated Google Maps is upgraded to solve all these problems.
As an added bonus, Android users can tap on the ‘My Location’ button or the blue dot on the map to access more details on locale, restaurant reviews and also transit schedule. The app experience will improve over time as users can learn their preferences. This action also works while browsing other neighborhoods and cities.
Recently, Google rolled out a number of updates to its mobile version of Google Maps. This includes the capability to check the status or nearby Uber cars and upcoming train and bus schedules. Additionally, Google Maps got a boost for cyclist, which gives the ability to users to discover bicycle directions with elevation details as well as comparisons for multiple routes.
