Google Maps 9 with Material Design, Uber and OpenTable assimilation
When Google started to update their apps into Material Design, it is because of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Google is making their apps more sleek and one by one, Google is pushing its big updates to its predominant apps. Earlier this week, Google Calendar got a fresh glaze of Material Design. And now, it’s time for the most, all important app to get the same change; Google Maps 9.0.
Google Maps 9.0 features a cool fresh design which is all about layers and bold colours. Users will enjoy the two circular action buttons. One button for jumping to users current location on the map which includes a second tap switch for compass mode and one more button for initiating navigation.
Before the hamburger button, the menu button partially counter-intuitively placed at the bottom of the interface. Now the hamburger button is now a true-to-guideline that shares space with the search bar. Even thought the navigation and side menu have been slightly stimulated, the biggest changes are in the route screen which has a overall beautiful colours. Also, the “Explore Nearby” feature shows local attraction and coffee shops. And is users spot a place on the map, they can learn more by tapping on the information card at the bottom.
There is also a few changes in the functionality too. Users can now reserve dinner tables from the app, and thanks to OpenTable integration. Uber too has now blended itself into Maps 9.0.
