Admit it, we were all getting a little hyped up that the Google Glass will be available for consumers this year. Well, it seems plans have changed. A report by Reuters is now saying that the device will only be available to the public somewhere next year.
The articles cites an anonymous source that seems to be on the inside of the rumor mill. Google Glass first came to our attention two years ago but has seen been losing the attention from developers. 9 out of the 16 original software creators have allegedly cease working on apps for the device. Why? Well, people just aren’t using Google Glass and the hardware part of the whole equation makes it even harder to create any app. Even Twitter has pulled its official Google Glass app from MyGlass.
Google however, hasn’t given up. According to the company, hundreds of employees are still working on the gadget. Head of Business Operations Chris O’Neill stated that “We are as committed as ever to a consumer launch. That is going to take time and we are not going to launch this product until it’s absolutely ready.”
With the amount of scandal (bar fights etc), we’re starting to wonder whether we’re ever going to be able to get our hands on a Google Glass. How do you feel about this new development in the device’s saga? Let us know in the comment section below!
