Since the dawn of Android 5.0 Lollipop, most of the major Google apps have been getting their Material Design updates. However, there has been one outstanding oversight which is Google Calendar. Fortunately, Google Calendar is not only getting a new Material Design, it is also aiming to be a personal assistant for users.
Google Calendar will now link with Gmail, making it auto-magically turning users emails to events, book flights and also make a reservation. And that’s not all. Google Calendar now offers users a smart suggestion, allowing users to create events quicker. Users get suggestion as they type for people, places and even titles and it even learns from users preferences that suggest the entire events depending on their habits.
In the new Material Design for Google Calendar, the signature action button allows users to quickly create new events, which includes bold colour palette and the smooth animations are integrated by maps. This feature is called “Schedule” view similar to the “Agenda” view which makes it easier to users to see the upcoming events with dazzling sketches, images and even maps.
Another new feature in Google Calendar is “Assists”. This feature is mostly a smart auto-complete that allows users to quickly fill out names and places, as well as event entries based on users previous usage.
Google Calendar will soon be out in the coming weeks to all devices running on Android 4.1 and higher.
