Google I/O is happening very soon. In fact we will be bringing you news on the event starting tomorrow. We are expecting plenty of announcements, releases and other news from Google I/O. One thing that we are expecting is a new Android. Plenty of reports suggests that there is a new Android around the corner but they are all unconfirmed. There isn’t event a confirmed numbering that goes with the new Android; we don’t know whether it will come with a 4.5 tag or a 5.0 tag. All we know is that the next release of Google Android is going to be a major release, it is going to be big. In an interview by Bloomberg Businessweek interview earlier today the head of Android, Sundar Pichai has confirmed that there is a new Android.
So with that, the new Android should be released on Google I/O right? Unfortunately Pichai says that the new Google Android will only be revealed in Google I/O. According to him in the Bloomberg interview Android will be previewed in the Google I/O only to be released a few months later. This is a very similar move to Apple with the iOS 8. Pichai described this move to be an effort to be more transparent with its users. He says, “I want the world to understand what we are doing sooner.
The interview with Bloomberg also reveals a Google L-codeword. Pundits in the interview tried to guess what it is but it is still very unclear what it would be. Could it be the next Android? We don’t know yet. But check back for our Google I/O coverage LiveBlog later today!
