The most famous and most used email address in the world; Gmail has been blocked for some time now in China even through its website and the official Gmail app. It is also believed that the Chinese Government has been blocking the Gmail services through third-party email apps.
The Financial Times had stated that, “The episode ended as mysteriously as it began — users of Gmail via POP and Imap servers, who had been frustrated for days trying to send and receive email, suddenly saw their inboxes full again, though some were still reporting delays in receiving emails and others said that their service had not returned.”
Google’s Transparency Report has collapse from worst to nothing, pointing out that there are some Chinese users managed to bypass the block mode by using a VPN. Beside from Gmail, the Chinese Government has also blocked Google Search and Google Maps, as well as Facebook.
